Established in 1978 by Brian Stonier and his wife Noel in the coastal town of Merricks, Stoniers is considered a pre-eminent producer in Mornington Peninsula of wines made from some of the regions oldest vines. The first chardonnay was planted in 1978 and Pinot Noir in 1982. The cool maritime climate proved ideal for these early ripening varieties. the most recent additions to the range include single vineyard and sparkling varieties.
